A Letter to the Residents of FaBS

Dear Resident,

I am writing to introduce myself as your Parliamentary Candidate for Filton and Bradley Stoke. I have worked in this constituency in education for almost a decade and live 10 minutes from UWE’s Frenchay Campus. I am also a Labour Councillor, representing the ward of Eastville since 2013, and have a track record, working successfully in a time of severe local government cuts, of delivery of better housing, better transport, fairer education and jobs.

Over the past few months I’ve been out and about listening to people and hearing about your hopes and concerns for the future. One thing is shared – many of you are deeply worried about the crisis facing our country - whether it is cuts to essential services, the climate crisis or Brexit.

In our constituency, we deserve an MP who lives in the region and is actively fighting in parliament for our interests and not their own.  As the bar chart below shows, Filton and Bradley Stoke is a marginal seat, with only a few thousand votes between Labour and the Tories.

Our current Tory MP is gambling with our future as he supports Johnson and his catastrophic No Deal Brexit. As your local Labour candidate, I want to set out over the next few months how I will do things differently, recognising the democratic rights of people, but also recognising the important role a relationship with Europe plays for our local economy, and environment.

On this webpage you can find out more about me and the work I have done, and I look forward to meeting you in person.

kind regards,

Mhairi Threlfall, your Labour Party Candidate
